HONOLULU--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 1, 2002--Today, Local 5 of the Hotel Employees & Restaurant Employees Union (HERE) launched www.waikikihotelbulletin.org to provide updates and information on the current contract negotiations at Waikiki hotels.
Given the interest in these negotiations, we wanted to provide a venue for interested parties to more readily access information and updates on the contract negotiations and get some background on the issues that are causing the friction, said Eric Gill, Financial Secretary of Local 5. We will be adding additional content to the website as the situation develops, Gill said.
Local 5 represents more than 6,000 housekeepers, food servers, cooks, bell-staff, front desk clerks and other workers in Waikiki's hotels.
Local 5 members at Hilton Hotels' (NYSE:HLT) Hilton Hawaiian Village and four hotels operated by Starwood Hotels & Resorts (NYSE:HOT) will vote August 13 on whether to give the Union Negotiating Committee authorization to call a strike.

Logos, product and company names mentioned are the property of their respective owners.
