  • Hilton NASHVILLE, TN., April 8, 2003 — Turnberry and Associates and the AAA Auto Club South announced today that the Hilton Suites Nashville Downtown has been awarded the 2004 AAA Four Diamond Award. To be considered for AAA rating and approval, lodgings and restaurants must undergo a thorough evaluation by one of AAA’s 60 full-time, trained, professional field inspectors. AAA inspectors conduct unannounced evaluations, assigning a rating of One to Five Diamonds to qualifying establishments in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

"All the AAA Four Diamond winners take quality, consistency and customer service to a higher level," said Kevin Bakewell, Senior Vice President of Public and Government Relations for AAA Auto Club South. "They’re a cut above the rest because they never lose sight of their first priority — the guest."
“ We are extremely proud to receive this honor and to be associated with such a reputable organization such as the AAA Auto Club,” stated Mark Moravec, General Manager of the Hilton Suites. “The management and staff have worked very hard to achieve this award.”

The Four Diamond symbol is included in each winning establishment’s listing in the 2004 AAA TourBook®. The majority of AAA’s nearly 46 million members in the United States and Canada depend on AAA publications to assist them with their travel-related decisions. A complete listing of AAA Four Diamond Award-Winning lodgings and restaurants in Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee can be found at www.aaasouth.com. A total of 146 lodgings and restaurants in these three states won this prestigious award in 2003. Only four percent of the 44,000 AAA-rated lodgings and restaurants attain this high level of excellence.

Although AAA has listed lodging information in its travel publications since the early 1900s, the association officially began rating properties in 1963. It adopted the diamond rating system in 1977 in celebration of its 75th anniversary. Restaurant evaluations began in 1986.

AAA Auto Club South is the third largest affiliate of AAA, with more than 3.5 million members in Florida, Georgia, and the western two-thirds of Tennessee. AAA is the largest membership travel organization in the world, and the largest leisure travel agency in the nation.
