Chicago Congress Plaza strike entering its second year

  • HERE As the one-year anniversary of the Congress Plaza Hotel strike approaches, the union says the labor dispute has cost the hotel more than $1 million, and it appears the two sides are no closer to a settlement than they were a year ago.

    More than 100 housekeeping staff, bellmen, restaurant employees and other workers walked off their jobs June 15 last year, in part to protest a 7 percent wage cut imposed by the downtown Michigan Avenue hotel.
