Los Angeles, Oct 8 (Reuters) - U.S. hotel room revenue fell in the week to Oct. 4, ending a quarter that has shown signs of an industry recovery on a down note, industry data showed on Wednesday. Revenue per available room fell 1.5 percent from a year earlier to $49.99 in the week to Oct. 4, tracking firm Smith Travel Research reported.

LOS ANGELES, Sept 4 (Reuters) - U.S. hotel room revenue rose 3.1 percent in the last week of August, continuing a late-summer improvement in travel that some analysts fear may falter in the autumn. Revenue per available room rose 3.1 percent from a year earlier to $50.90 in the week to Aug. 30, tracking firm Smith Travel Research reported.

Canny hoteliers are using Taiwanese technology to block cellphone signals, fooling guests into thinking there is no coverage in the area and forcing them to use the hotel's phone services. Some hotels in Scotland have installed mobile phone jammers to force guests to use the in-room phone service, reported Scottish tabloid Daily Record.
